Seeing how long Blockhead has been around and how much time/effort it takes to make an episode it makes total sense that you're running into this kind of issue. For me it makes little/no difference if the setting changes/there are new characters introduced like the Weevil or anything along those lines. I think with longer running series' the audience tends to take greater ownership of the characters, and don't like to see them outside of their own interpretation of each one. So i guess I mean Blockhead and the Conscience are the same no matter where they are or who they are with as long as they themselves stay in their character roles. I would totally welcome something new/unexpected as long as the characters don't change.

I totally agree with an earlier post that said the Conscience is better when he is right rather than when he thinks he is. Also, I think my absolute favorite quote from the entire series is when the Conscience says in response to himself: "He asks, not expecting a real answer." From one of the first few episodes. I see the Conscience as sort of representing us, the audience as we might react to these situations. So when the Conscience talks to himself I think it opens up a whole world of opportunities.

I agree with you when you say you like the hyper blockhead best. Some of the best jokes come from his dialog, the way it makes sense to him and to the audience, but it's a delayed response which is a great hook. Actually I think everything that made Kramer from Seinfeld so great is exactly what makes Blockhead great. He creates mayhem without consequence, in fact I'd like to see Blockhead in a situation where he actually benefits despite his total lack of a grasp on reality- like in the Time Squad series! Genius!

I forgot to mention this before, but I'd say stay away from Graphic Novels.
I agree that Newgrounds is for Flash not just animation.
But to me Graphic novels seem like a cop-out.
You have so much talent as an animator, and it seems like you'd be cheating yourself and newgrounds if you changed to doing a graphic novel series.

Keep up the great work Swain looking forward to Mastermind 4.

I absolutely LOVE Blockhead. To be more specific and precise, I love his interaction with his conscience and how he generally ignores him. My favorite thing about the cartoon is how crazy he is despite his sane conscience. I often find my self having the urge to slap a silly hat off of someone's head, but my conscience wins the battle and I don't. Blockhead would not only slap it off, he'd put it in his mouth and run away (with me laughing).

As for the weevil character, he is too flat to be exciting. He basically feels like a human prop for comedic use by blockhead. It was funny to see him be recurring, but my focus is still on blockhead and his relationship with his conscience.

I can also see you plight as you feel the joke of blockhead being crazy gets played out; this has happened to family guy. Random, disconnected jokes get very old. As long as blockhead episodes have a coherent plot, it will be great. I think that John Cleese has a quote saying something to the effect that monty python jokes may have seemed random, but their amazing wit came from the fact that everything was glued together by some simple underlying theme.

And lastly, your ani-comics are awesome. It really original and I really enjoy them. I totally count them as flash, and you should submit them all to newgrounds (maybe as one big collection). My favorite part about them is hearing the blockhead character voices out loud. I hope you actually read this because I took time away from my calculus III homework to write it...

about Blockhead:
I think, in every series, there is some special thing that people associat to.
like, in blockhead, the tongs, the yellow head and his way of taking the stairs. that are thing that I think musn't change.
I like the destructive Blockhead and the blockhead who argue with a stop advert.
I didn't like the one with the video that he gives to everyone.
ghostmas is epic for sure.
But finally, it's not you who has to follow us and make us like what you do. it's you who do whatever you want and people who likes it, likes it and people who don't, just don't.
you evolve and your audience evolve or change. It's my way of seeing things.

for the graphic flash novel:
I don't really like the ones you gave for example. I mean, I like the story but I like when it's more animated. but it's always the same stuff: do whatever you want.

I think I don't have anything else to say.
excuse me if my english isn't very english 'cause I'm not english ^^

I hope I was usefull to you.

good luck for the next.

The new Mastermind was hilarious :D!

Keep it up man!

I think three MAIN things you have to do plus some otehr stuff. Here arethe amin things:

Have more of the elements from the original plot but DON'T use the old drawings

Maybe have some constent sections like a television bit or blockhead's dreams

Make the blockhead episodes shorter and try and steer as much random comedy in there as possible

Also, I liked your Blockhead Quick Shot only make it more random funny jokes and I don't think you should have any ongoing plots. That would RUIN it.

I like the idea of consistent segments, it's hard tho sometimes because of the lack of real length in the episodes. I have made the whole intro sequence segment a staple since Episode 2, though, and I leave the rest of the episode open to the script.

And as far as plots go, Blockhead won't have a plot so much as it will have more continuity between episodes, where each episode begins after (either immediately or by some other length of time) the previous episode, and outside of the house.

the graphic novel style is good for larger projects you don't want to spend 10 years animating. who wants to release one cartoon every 10 years?

i loved MM 3 :D

I love Blockhead's random personality, and although I think you should keep it like that, he should always have some kind of motivation.

I also think it's great to have Blockhead going out.
Blockhead needs to interact with other people, to see how much he clashes with society and the other people's reactions to his antics.
Having him to interact with actual people is much more interesting than just having him sitting in a couch, with the Conscience being his only companion.

But the conscience should also be there, throwing some comments from time to time.

Concerning the Weevil, who is he? Why does Blockhead likes him so much?
And why does the Conscience hates him more than the other hobos? Where does that name comes form?

Lastly, some occasional references to significative things for Blockhead (tongs, ghostmas) should keep the fans happy.

By the way, I love that you expand yourself with other projects like
Racist Vampires and the Mastermind series

Happy Mod-dom.

SWAIN YOURE A MOTHERFUNKING MOD :O when did this happen?!

Magic :O

ur the best mod ever

Also hoping to see RV =D

I havent done anything yet :(

Also I'm really hoping I can put RV out too, it's a real handful and has totally discouraged me.

I like it when Blockhead gets crazy and destructive.

You sure make awesome flash. :D

Also, 100th comment!! XD

Well it's good to know that you hate being repetitive and using the same gag again. Personally, I enjoy Blockhead MUCH more in the recent episodes, than I do in the early ones. I do find the house scenes boring; I love it when Blockhead goes outside and screws with people. Some of my favorite scenes are when he breaks into people's homes. The Conscious character is a brilliant creation, I never get tired of him. However, I think the Weevil needs to be thrown out; he's more of a one-episode character than a returning one. Thats what I have to say.

i thought i was gonna hate blockhead because you see this kind of seires and attitude on every show now but blockhead can just do it and i think the weavile should stay and blockhead should interact more with people i would say a whole lot more than this usual stuff but i have to go ill continue later

One thing that always made me appreciate Blockhead was it being so random. My friend Colton and I always high-five and say 'Tongs", and we've been thinking of making a punk'd parody with radishes, like Blockhead. What I always remember about blockhead is in episode 8, I think, when they're at the mall. Blockhead slowly goes over and eats the womans hat, she complains, a kilted guy comes over, yelling ensues. A cop comes over asked what happened, and and more yelling then WHAT? WHAT? WHAT? WHAT? WHAT? type happening, silence and walking away. When the conscience goes "Uhh, what just happened?" Blockhead has a seizure and spazzes on the ground. It's these things that make Blockhead immortal to me. I will always say "tongs" with my friend and "You got radish'd" and stuff like that. Blockhead will always be a part of me in those ways.

Hey, somebody vomited in your aura! It's all yellow and coloured...
