Project Nexus 2 Announcement

Posted by The-Swain - September 22nd, 2013

Flash could no longer handle the many, many updates we had planned for our little Flash project, Madness: Project Nexus. So we're making a new one in Unity instead, totally from scratch. And it's gonna be HUGE.

I've got TONS to say about this, but most of what we're doing will be posted on our new Nexus2 tumblr account. But for the time being, Matt and I are taking questions here and over on his userpage.

I have to say this: FIRST :p

My computer doesn't support unity. D:

Unity exports to a format totally playable on PC, Mac, and I BELIEVE also Linux. It's not the same as the Unity web player.

It's really important to us that we make the game accessible to anyone who wants to play it. Don't worry, we'll find a way to make sure you get the chance.

Could this be the first 3D Madness game?

Oh ok thanks for clarifying!

madness project nexus with call of duty vision?

So you guys are done updating the first one then?

I can only say one thing about this: Awesome.

It looks more 3D like kool ^ - ^

I hope those won't be the final graphics.

No this is it, the game is done go play it.

3D!? THIS IS MADNESS!!

wot is this real i never thought id see the day

Nice work, looking forward to playing it. Id offer the 3D madness game assets from that attempt evan and i were doing but the art styles probably wouldnt mesh. Definitely looking forward to this

Not to jump the gun on this project, but if we manage to get Kickstarter'd and the workload piles up, I might need to come knocking and see if you'd want to be involved in this thing somehow.

I'm not sure if I like the free floating feet, they don't seem very Madness like.

Hey Swain, I read a comment of you and you said this not gonna be a brower game. This will be download game?

It'd be nice to have a browser version, but we're aiming to make this game into a real title. No more shortcuts!

I've always wondered, how'd it feel to be moving to a different type of dimension for madness? i've always seen it as a 2-d series, why the move to 3d? wouldn't 3d be hard to pull off with the look of the simple characters?

Keeping the look of the game Madness-y in 3d will be the hard part. But alongside that, everything else will be much, much easier to do. The trade off is worth it.

I'm... interested I suppose. I always liked the idea of a 2-d Madness game but I suppose with you and Krinkles at the helm, this game will be just as good.

Will this game be free? I don't really mind either way, I just need to know for the followup question. If it is not, what distribution platform(s) will it use?

It's really bad to flash don't be able to support this, but, what can I do... ...Well, I wish good luck to you, Matt and every other people that will work on this, I know this gonna be huge!

So that means that I will have to pay to play the next Episode?

From the comments below me, I assume this will have to be downloaded. One question remains though, will I have to buy it?
